Getting Down to Natures Business: The First Annual DC Tree Report Card

In addition to releasing the First Annual Tree Report Card, Casey Trees announced an Urban Tree Canopy (UTC) Goal of 40% by 2035. This ambitious goal requires 216,300 new trees— approximately 8,600 a year—added over the next 25 years.

A new interactive map— the Casey Trees Map— accompanies the launch and allows users to determine the tree canopy and potential planting opportunities on any street address or place in the District of Columbia.

Casey Trees issued the District’s First Annual Tree Report Card on Sat., May 2, giving the City an overall Grade of B

A second interface allows individuals to locate all trees planted by Casey Trees since 2003. Determine your property’s UTC on Casey Trees website. Go to www.CaseyTrees.org and pull up interactive maps and tool.
