Challenging the Multimillion Dollar “WHITEHURST Teardown” Study… for the Fifth Time!
As FBA President Asher Corson pointed out in last week’s letter to you, (along with, “COUNT DRACULA RIDES THE WHITEHURST” in the Jan 20, 2010 FBN this “study” is the fifth time—dragging in an unwitting new player, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG), to hide the source of this effort—our elected and appointed officials have thumbed their noses at the community on this matter.
We also hope the ANC’s open discussion will spur a critical mass of the community to once again stop the flagrant waste of public money on a project that has been unanimously opposed for five years. If you agree that spending $4 million for a study to justify tearing down the Whitehurst—part of a national emergency evacuation route and crucial connection to and from downtown—is not in the tax-paying public’s interest, it’s time to join with your neighbors and get involved.
Let us hear from you! Address your letters and emails to the MWCOG President and Board, and copy the ANC and the FBA; We will post all the necessary information on the FBA website. FBN
