Vincent Gray has received great kudos for his work in the community preceding his life on City Council, and as Chair of the Council, the commendations rightfully continue. Chair Gray spoke to an audience of 40 Tuesday evening and took numerous questions on tangential topics with great enthusiasm and patience.

Thirty minutes into his talk, he noted to the group that we were still on “Slide One.” Many audience questions pertained to education and youth. Gray mentioned that one of the programs he conducts is a Moot Youth Court two Saturdays a month. It is usually theme-oriented and open to the public. It is recorded and shown on the DC cable channel. Youth learn how to use the process to accomplish various goals for the school or community and in the process, become heroes in their neighborhoods.

With regard to the economy, Gray was pragmatic about the challenges the District faces. While the District is better off than most jurisdictions and neighboring states, it is experiencing shortfalls. —FBN
